It doesn’t seem to matter where Matt Sheppard goes lately,
he is the car to beat. He proved it once again at Albany Saratoga on Tuesday
night. Picking up another win, in what seems to be an endless streak of good
runs for theWaterloo NY driver.
Over 50 Modifieds were in attendance for the Stampade at Toga Short Track Super Series event. Sheppard pulled
number 2 in the redraw putting him alongside Danny Creeden on the front row for
the drop of the green. Sheppard would lead lap 1, quickly making his presence
known.
By lap 15 he was already into lap traffic. Kenny Tremont had
moved into the 2nd spot and was trying to hunt down Sheppard.
The first caution of the night was brought out by Demetrios
Drellos on lap 18. On the restart Sheppard would lead the field back into turn1
and Tremont was left trying to track down Sheppard once again.
The caution would fly again on lap 26 but the restart would
not affect Sheppard in the least, as he would be quick to jump out to the lead
once again when the green flag fell. Billy Decker would get around Tremont to
move into second just a few laps later.
Caution would once again fall over the field for Jerry
Higbie who would spin on lap 35. The field would get lined up again with Matt
Delorenzo alongside Sheppard. The restart once again proved to be no issue for
Sheppard as he got a good run into one. Decker was able to get around Delorenzo
with 10 laps to go but never had enough to reel Sheppard in.
Sheppard dominated the field, building up a 2 second lead
with 5 to go and that was enough to hold off the rest of the field and pick up
the checkers behind the wheel of the Sweeteners Plus 92 machine.
Sheppard win on Tuesday night brings Bicknell Racing
Products total wins in 2017 to 609.
Congratulations to Matt Sheppard on the win as well as Billy
Decker and Ryan Godown on their 2nd and 4th place finishes.
