Denny
Soltis, of Torrington, C.T., made history on Saturday, September 2nd behind the
wheel of his Bicknell No.1X at Lebanon Valley Speedway.
After
winning his heat race, Soltis lined up on the front row next to John Ruchel for
the initial green flag for the 30-lap main event.
Soltis
immediately jumped out to an early lead. Soltis never looked back and went on
to win by 3.877 seconds over Ruchel.
The
Lebanon Valley veteran made his way back to victory lane since his last win in
2002. At age 74, Soltis made history by becoming the oldest driver to ever win
a feature at The Valley.
Many
may not know the veterans history, but Soltis’ first race at the high-banks was
back in July of 1975. Soltis has seen his fair share of laps around the fast ½
mile, clay oval.
Soltis
may have dabbled into some sprint car racing and some drag racing over his
racing career and slowed down a bit to be with his family, but it wasn’t until
six years ago that he came back to what he knows best; Big Block Modifieds.
Soltis
may be the oldest driver to have won a feature at Lebanon Valley but he is a driver
who has nothing to prove.
“We
are so happy that we could be a part of such a special win,” said Bicknell
Racing Products partner, Bob Slack. “We pride ourselves in dealing with rookies
to veterans and Denny is a true veteran.”
Everyone
at Bicknell Racing Products would like to congratulate Denny Soltis on making
history and taking his Bicknell Racing Products No. 1X to victory lane at
Lebanon Valley Speedway.
